Pre-K Class Creates Grocery Store

Students from Mrs. Vore's PreK class have transformed their housekeeping center into a Grocery store. Students have studied the names of coins and even some of the presidents who are on them. Now for letter G, they are putting their shopping skills to the test at their own Grocery store. Materials for the store were supplied by parents and Alva's Market. Click here to view photo . . .

Students Participate in Read for the Record

Washington Early Childhood Center participated in Read for the Record. Unofficially, so far the number of children reading Corduroy on October 2, 2008, was over 400,000. Washington teachers read to 202 children. For more information about Read for the Record, visit www.readfortherecord.org.

Patriotism Awards Given

Eight Kindergarten students from Washington Elementary School were recognized in September for the "High Five Award" for Patriotism. The students received a necklace, Rialto free movie rental, and a phone call home.

Four First Grade students were recognized as "Caring Kids" for September for Patriotism. Each student received a bracelet, McDonald's certificate, and a hand.

One Room School

Students from Washington ECC attending the One Room School House were Gracie Scarbough, Tara Owen, Joe Parsons, and Garrett Radford. They were joined under the tree by School Marm Brenda Dixon, Longfellow students Bentley Tomberlin and Stephanie Spellman.

Grandparents' Day

Washington Elementary School hosted a Grandparents' Day on September 3, 2008. Grandparents were greeted with buttons which were designed by Mrs. Long's Business and Information Technology Class at the Northwest Technology Center. The buttons displayed the message "I'm a Grandparent at Washington ECC". In addtion to receiving the buttons, grandparents received a bottled water from the PTO and walked on the walking trail with the grandchildren.
