Congratulations to Jozlin Campbell on receiving the Oklahoma Academic All-State Award!

Alva High School senior, Jozlin Campbell, has been honored as an Oklahoma Academic All-Stater—an incredibly prestigious recognition awarded to only 100 of the top public high school seniors in the state.

Each All-Stater receives a $1,500 merit-based scholarship, along with an honor cord and medallion.

8th grade students at Alva Middle School recently submitted writing and art pieces for consideration to be published in the Young Writers Anthology. The Young Writers Anthology is published by the Oklahoma Council of Teachers of English each year and contains submissions from middle school students across the state. The students pictured below were chosen out of over 250 entries to be published in the anthology. They will be honored at an awards ceremony on Saturday, March 28th, where they will each get to present their work to the audience. A copy of the anthology can be viewed at www.oktce.org.

Big congratulations to Avery Goss and Katelee Martin on being selected as recipients of the OSU Thoma Scholarship!

The Thoma Scholarship is a prestigious award recognizing exceptional students from rural communities across Northwest Oklahoma, West Texas, and Eastern New Mexico. Recipients are chosen for their academic promise, leadership potential, and commitment to their communities.

This incredible full-ride scholarship covers the entire cost of attendance—including tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, and other educational expenses. Scholars also have the opportunity to study abroad, expanding their horizons and gaining valuable global experiences.

On Wednesday, March 11th, AMS & AHS Show Choirs competed in the Tri-State Show Choir Contest in Enid.

Both groups delivered outstanding performances and represented our school so well!

AHS Gold Rush! earned Overall 3rd Place and was named Best in Class (Small School 2A–4A). 🎶🏆

Avery has been invited to sing the National Anthem at the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association State Basketball Tournament. This marks her third time receiving this prestigious opportunity!

▪️She will perform Wednesday, March 11, at the OG&E Coliseum before the afternoon session begins at 4:30 PM.

Congratulations to the Alva Middle School and High School vocal students on an outstanding showing at yesterday’s district contest hosted by NWOSU.

Alva Middle School received Highest Superior ratings on stage and Excellent ratings in sight reading.

Three middle school soloists also competed and earned Highest Superior ratings:

In February, several of Dr. Simon’s Teach Oklahoma students attended NWOSU’s Future Educators Day, where they took part in a wonderful and educational experience.

Students heard from the keynote speaker, the Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, and participated in several breakout sessions throughout the day.

On March 2, Music Appreciation students welcomed special guest Chuck Belknap, professional piano tuner.

He demonstrated how he tunes an upright piano and shared insight into his career in piano tuning. Mr. Belknap also spoke about his background in education, having taught instrumental, vocal, and general music before serving as a principal.

The Alva Middle School and Alva High School Show Choirs attended the Duncan Show Choir Contest on 2/11, enjoying a full day of performances while competing against 24 schools.

AHS Gold Rush! earned Overall Best Choreography and Best in Class 3A, while AMS Gold Rush! Jr. also brought home Best in Class 3A.

The students represented Alva with excellence, and there is great excitement for their upcoming contests in Enid and at Edmond Santa Fe this spring.
