Big news at Alva Middle School! 🎉

We’re excited to share that AMS has started FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)! FCA is a completely optional organization and is not just for athletes—all students are welcome. It’s a positive, encouraging space focused on faith, leadership, and building strong character.

FCA takes place during lunch once a week. We’ve been blown away by the response, with around 65 students attending each week! It’s been awesome to see students come together to support and encourage one another.

Reminder! Today is the last day to get your Kiss-A-Gram orders in.

The Gold Rush! Show Choir performed for the fifth grade class at Lincoln on Thursday, February 4th.
Although they were missing some singers, fun was had, and songs were shared!
Fifth grade students were able to see the AHS show choir perform their competition set.
The choir hopes that fifth grade students will consider signing up for choir at AMS next year!
The show choirs kick off their competition season next week and will travel to Duncan.

At the request of an Alva Middle School student to Mrs. Stephanie Marteney, Ms. Kandee Almgren helped students to form a Chess Club at Alva Middle School. After a lunch meeting with 30 students, they decided to have meetings every Monday and Thursday to play chess or checkers and learn strategies for the games. They also elected officers for their club. Walter Sagner, who first talked to Mrs. Marteney, was appointed as president. Members then voted for other officers from among more seasoned chess players. Hollis Talbert was elected as vice president; members selected Gavin Stacey to be secretary, Zane Ream to be reporter, and Hank Hobbs to be sergeant at arms.


Members plan to have a chess tournament later in the semester. Currently, the AMS Library has 9 chess sets for students to use. If anyone in the community would like to donate chess sets, please contact Ms. Almgren at Alva Middle School.
