Congratulations to Our 2025 Write to Win Contest Winner!
We are thrilled to announce that Zoe Hall, a talented 9th-grade student, has won the Poetry
Division of The 2025 Write to Win Contest, sponsored by the Oklahoma Writing Project.
Her award-winning poem, "Evolution of Fear," captivated the judges with its depth, creativity,

Alva Senior Harper Houston Named Prestigious OSU Thoma Scholar
Alva High School senior Harper Houston has been selected as an Oklahoma State University Thoma Scholar, one of the most prestigious scholarship and recognition awards in the nation. Each year, only 20 students from across the country earn this incredible honor.
Harper's selection followed an extensive application process, requiring outstanding academic achievement, selection as a finalist, and a rigorous interview process. Her dedication and excellence have set her apart, and this award reflects her hard work and talent.
The Thoma Scholarship covers full attendance costs at OSU, including tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, and other educational expenses. It also provides scholars with the opportunity to study abroad, personalized mentorship, and access to OSU’s nationally recognized Honors College. This means Harper will be able to pursue her undergraduate degree at OSU completely debt-free!
Harper is beyond deserving of this incredible opportunity and has been an outstanding representative of Alva High School. The AHS community is extremely proud of her accomplishments and excited to see all she will achieve as she joins the Cowboy family!
